From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
